BestDose is a model-informed precision dosing (MIPD) software developed by the Laboratory of Applied Pharmacokinetics (LAPK). It combines validated population pharmacokinetic models with a patient’s own data—such as demographics, dosing history, and measured drug concentrations—to recommend individualized dosing regimens. By targeting exposure metrics (for example, AUC, trough levels, or time above MIC), BestDose helps clinicians achieve therapeutic goals efficiently while minimizing toxicity.

Key capabilities:

  • Bayesian and multiple-model dosing methods to personalize therapy from sparse or evolving data
  • Target-driven optimization for common PK/PD goals (AUC, Cmax, trough, or time-based targets)
  • Prospective dosing and retrospective analysis for therapeutic drug monitoring workflows
  • Uncertainty-aware predictions with visual forecasts of concentration–time profiles
  • Library of curated population models maintained by LAPK across diverse patient groups

Who it’s for:

  • Clinicians, pharmacists, and pharmacometricians involved in therapeutic drug monitoring and individualized therapy, including in pediatric and adult populations

Typical uses:

  • Precision dosing of drugs where exposure targets matter (e.g., anti-infectives, oncology agents, and immunosuppressants)
  • Rapid achievement of therapeutic ranges, dose adjustment after level results, and optimization in complex patients

Note: BestDose is a clinical decision support tool and is intended to complement, not replace, professional clinical judgment.

BestDose is developed by The Laboratory of Applied Pharmacokinetics (LAPK). The most popular version of this product among our users is 1.1. The name of the program executable file is BestDose.exe.
